Čermáková, Radka ; Juřena, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Ďásková, Pavla (referee)
Keywords: Oxygen therapy; Artificial lung ventilation; High-flow; Covid-19; Treatment of respiratory disease This thesis deals with supportive respiratory, ventilation, and non-invasive techniques of respiratory support related to the global Covid-19 pandemic that affected the lives of many people between 2020 and 2021. During this pandemic, high-flow nasal oxygen therapy (High- flow) emerged as a possible alternative to artificial lung ventilation in Covid-positive patients. The thesis addresses the issues related to the high-flow device, the experiences of nurses with it, and whether it can be an alternative to artificial lung ventilation for Covid-positive patients in intensive care. The theoretical part characterizes topics such as oxygen therapy, artificial lung ventilation, high-flow, Covid-19, treatment of respiratory disease, and the Hacor score. The empirical part is based on two conducted quantitative studies. The aim of the first quantitative survey was to determine whether the nurses are familiar with the high-flow device, its principles, usage, and whether they have received sufficient training on this device. The second quantitative survey aimed to illustrate the ventilation modes used in all hospitalized patients who underwent artificial lung ventilation or high-flow therapy to...

The work of Paramedic from perspective of patients
PETRLÁK, Jakub
The initial part of this bachelor thesis gives a brief survey of the history of emergency medical services. The following section deals with paramedic education and the possibilities of further paramedic education, whether in the form of a follow-up master's degree or further specialization after graduation from university. Attention is also given to individual character traits of paramedics and the prerequisites for this profession. I explore the various types of difficulties paramedics may encounter during their professional careers. I also deal with the negative effects of the profession on the paramedics in the form of burnout syndrome and its phases. The aims of this thesis include finding out how patients generally perceive the work of paramedics, whether patients have possibly gained negative experience in contact with paramedics and also how the patients' views of this profession were affected by the Covid 19 pandemic. For the research part, qualitative research was chosen, using semi-structured interviews consisting of 15 questions. Five respondents were chosen for research in this thesis, with regard to their age and education. Data collection took place in February and March 2022. Before starting the research, the respective respondents were contacted and asked whether they agreed to participate. They were informed in advance that their personal data would not be disclosed. Following their consent, their interviews were recorded on a voice recorder. After conversion into written text files, the original recordings were deleted. After the research has been completed and the collected data processed, I came to the conclusion that all the initial research questions were answered and the research goals were met. I have found that, except for a few situations, the view of the ambulance service and paramedic work is generally positive. In one of the five cases, the negative experience of paramedic work was prompted mainly by the crew's behaviour, not by an impression that the crew did not know what to do. The research also revealed that the paramedic profession is associated mainly with ambulance service, rather than hospital emergency departments or anaesthesiology and resuscitation departments.
Methodology of the medical operating center during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic
ČÍHAL, Marek
This bachelor's thesis was focused on the methodology of the medical operating center during the pandemic Severe acute respiratory syndrome-related coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). It examined how the methodology of the medical operating center dispatchers have changed and also mapped the experience of emergency medical service departures in passing information obtained from patients to the emergency line. Although the disease caused by the virus is on the decline at this time, it is still a current global threat that should not be underestimated. The thesis describes both Coronavirus disease (COVID 19) and the methodology of dispatchers of the medical operating centers. The aim of the research was to map the procedures of the dispatchers during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic and to map the experience of paramedics with the evaluation of the emergency call through themedical emergency dispatch centers for patients with epidemiological criteria of suspected COVID 19. A qualitative type of research was chosen. It was conducted through semi-structured interviews. Ten dispatchers and ten paramedics answered pre-prepared questions. These questions dealt mainly with the evaluated epidemiological criteria, the change in the methodology of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic and the satisfaction of paramedics with the information provided. The research showed that not all dispatchers od medical operating centers proceed in the collection and evaluation of epidemiological criteria uniformly, but at the same time they are aware of current recommended practices and largely follow them, except for small deviations. At the same time, interviews with crew members showed that although they are not 100 % satisfied with the way the information is passed on to them, they value the work of their colleagues from medical operating center and consider it, given the current situation, more than sufficient.
Medial Picture and Coverage of Homelesses During Covid- 19 Crisis
Dařílek, Jan ; Křeček, Jan (advisor) ; Soukup, Martin (referee)
The diploma thesis covers the media image of the homelessness of one year before the outbreak of the coronavirus crisis (March 1st, 2019 to February 28th, 2020) and one year during the coronavirus crisis (March 1st, 2020 to February 28th, 2021). The key part of the thesis is the research itself, based mainly on the foreign studies of Moira J. Calder (et al., 2011), Carole Zufferey (2008; 2010; 2014) and Mao (et al., 2012). In the text are summarized almost all studies related to the media and homelessness in the Czech Republic (Kadeřávek, 2016; Stuhlíková, 2011; Košťálová, 2013; Kronika, 2011; Balcar, 2014; Aujezdský, 2014; Malík, 2011 2018; Hejnal, 2012). The research method used is a quantitative content media analysis, the result is a description of the media image. Examined were the internet news articles of the three most popular public sphere media - ČT24.cz; iRozhlas.cz; České noviny.cz and three private sphere media - Novinky.cz; iDnes.cz; Aktuálně.cz. The diploma thesis firstly focuses on the first period, then the second period, in which it analyzes and compares the media image of homelessness between public and private media, and finally compares the media image of homelessness before the beginning of the crisis and during the crisis. This study provides a key element in studying and...
Mechanisms used by SARS-CoV-2 for escape from innate host defense
Rybová, Lucie ; Němečková, Šárka (advisor) ; Pospíšek, Martin (referee)
SARS-CoV-2 of the Coronaviridae family causes the disease called Covid-19. It has a number of structural, non-structural and accessory proteins that interfere with the host's immune response and help the virus escape this response and survive in the host. The most important escape mechanism is suppression of host interferon function. Molecules causing inhibition of the host's innate immunity are encoded from the region of the virus genome ORF1a and ORF1ab. This work provides a summary of the characterization, morphology, genome, replication cycle, innate immunity mechanisms involved in host defense against infection, and escape mechanisms of SARS-CoV-2. Keywords: SARS-CoV-2, virus, morfology of SARS-CoV-2, SARS-CoV-2 genome, structural proteins, nonstructural proteins, innate immune system escape, IFN dysregulation, TLRs, SARS-CoV-2 variants, Covid-19
SMV-2021-67: Testing of the materials crucial for the fight with COVID 19 pandemic using low energy electron microscopy
Materna Mikmeková, Eliška
Nanomaterials used for the protection against COVID 19 were tested by a special method developed at ISI: scanning low energy electron microscopy (SLEEM). The important advantage to operate at low energy is the possibility to find so-called critical energy, which enables us to observe the non-conductive samples without charging in the native state at very high resolution. Next advantage of the SLEEM method is decreasing the interaction depth, which leads to increasing surface sensitivity and possibility to observe the surfaces in detail.

Pospíšilová, Magdalena ; Buriánková, Jitka (advisor) ; Pavlů, Dagmar (referee)
Title: Impacts of the Covid 19 pandemic on mental health Aims: The main aim of the work is to observe what influence the Covid 19 pandemic had on the mental health of the respondents in the 10-80 age range . The aim of the research is to find out which group of the respondents was the most affected by the pandemic and how their lives changed during the ongoing pandemic. Methods: The basis for this work was the quantitative research in the form of a questionnaire survey whose results were processed through descriptive statistics, contingency tables and the regression method, which was used to verify the hypotheses. The questionnaire survey included batteries of questions related to mental health, consultations, well-being, loneliness, employment, lifestyle, the influence of media surveillance, suicidal ideation and socio- demographic indicators. Results: The respondents in the oldest age group, it means 60 years and older, were found to report the worst effects of the pandemic in the field of mental health. The risk of suicidal thoughts was the highest in the youngest category aged 10-19 and also in the oldest one over 60 years. Another finding was that the respondents who watched the media for more than 2 hours a day, were associated with a higher risk of impact on their mental health. Furthermore,...
